Scores of Passengers Missing After Boat Accident in Bayelsa State Community

Scores of people have been declared missing on Thursday during a boat accident in Okpoama community in Bayelsa State.

The boat which was involved in the accident was said to be conveying traders and goods from Yenagoa, the state capital to the community.

Though the details of the accident are still sketchy, reports indicate that a rescue mission is underway to locate missing the passengers.

SaharaReporters had also reported how eight persons were feared dead in a boat accident in Bayelsa State which occurred at Oyoma, near Oporoma, the headquarters of the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state in 2022.

The tragedy was said to have involved two boats with one ramming into the other most likely due to bad weather and poor visibility.

The accident took place four days after a similar accident claimed six lives between Otuan and Ayama areas of the Southern Ijaw.
